Beach Fireworks and Gelato

Friday night we decided to meet up with friends and watch fireworks on the beach!  The Hilton Hawaiian Village sponsors a fireworks show every Friday night…they have a nice grassy area surrounding a lagoon right next to Waikiki Beach.  It was definitely a great spot to lay out a blanket and have a picnic.  The lagoon is perfect for kids, and the grassy area was a great spot to lay out a blanket and have a picnic.  Our little sweetie had fun playing with daddy on the grass while we were waiting for the fireworks to start 🙂

Fireworks!

One of my friends from high school just started a food truck called Via Gelato.  We had to go and support her, and try some of her delicious flavors!  The banana lilikoi and brown butter vanilla were amazing, and we loved the homemade cones!  Can’t wait to go back and try the green tea haupia.  She tries to use local ingredients whenever possible, which I really love!  I’m so excited for her!  If you live in Hawaii, you can follow Via Gelato on Twitter @ViaGelato.

Do you have a favorite food truck in your area?

I love the food truck trend!  I used to grab lunch from the food trucks outside of the hospital in Philly, and burgers from Slidin’ Thru in Las Vegas.  Now I’ll have to discover all the great trucks in Hawaii!

  1. Awesome! We’ll definitely have to hit that gelato truck up next time we’re in town! We love Giovanni’s shrimp truck on the North Shore too. No food trucks in ‘Bama…

  2. Umm..did you say fireworks show every Friday night?!?! How fun!! Can you adopt me? hehe
