Good Eats – Sushi and Frozen Custard

We had a great dinner out on the patio during Roy’s Restaurant’s Aloha Hour (all small plates and drinks are $5 each from 4:30-6:30 pm)!

Korean short rib tacos and Smoked mahimahi tacos served on a taro chip (tiny, but packed a lot of flavor!) I loved the idea of serving it in a taro chip, but we both wished they were bigger and had more filling πŸ™‚

Tempura crusted spicy ahi roll (our long-time favorite) and Big Island Ebi Roll (shrimp tempura, mango, cream cheese, avocado, coconut and a habanero aioli). Β I enjoyed some of the fully cooked roll, will have to wait on the raw stuff until after I deliver…that might be my first meal πŸ™‚

Mojito…for my husband πŸ™‚ They were out of our favorite pineapple-ginger mojito, but they now have a mango mojito. My poor husband is allergic to mangos, and we’re about to move to Hawaii where fresh mangos grow everywhere and are so delicious!

Followed by a trip to Nielsen’s Frozen Custard for their incredibly rich and creamy vanilla and cherry chocolate chip frozen custard! I die…this was SO good and definitely hit the spot in our 100 degree temps!

Happy Saturday! We are visiting the Grand Canyon this weekend…my first time ever, and I’m so excited! Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend πŸ™‚

  1. Taro chips! LOVE those… I wonder if they make those shells in house or buy them from somewhere? That’s such a great alternative to a taco shell!

    • Good question, I’ll have to ask next time! They were so perfectly shaped to be a taco, but tasted exactly like the taro chips you can buy in the store…maybe they get them specially made by one of those companies? It’s just the right size to pop in your mouth as an appetizer πŸ™‚
